FIFTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON COMPOSITE SCIENCE
AND TECHNOLOGY

The objective of ICCST/5 is to bring together composites scientists, engineers and technologists
to exchange ideas, to discuss the latest developments in composites and to present their work to the international composites community.
The conference will be held on February 1 ?3, 2005 at
the American University of Sharjah, Sharjah, UAE. Sharjah is 20 minutes from Dubai which is the home of the Dubai Shopping Festival, the largest in the gulf area that will be organized at the same time as the conference.
Prospective authors are invited to submit abstracts on topics related to, but not limited to, the following topics:
?Mechanics of composites
?Ceramic composites
?Infrastructural use of composites
?Metal-matrix composites
?Nondestructive evaluation &
characterization of composites
?Composite manufacturing
?Fracture and fatigue of composites
?Smart materials & structures
?Numerical & mathematical modeling of composites
?Nano-composites
A number of leading researchers in the field of Composite Materials will be invited to deliver
keynote lectures. The conference official language is English.
Prospective authors should submit a 300-word Abstract by e-mail to iccst5@ausharjah.edu. The Abstract should clearly state the objectives, results and conclusions of the work undertaken and emphasize the novel aspects of the work. Contact information and affiliation of the corresponding author must be included.
Papers presented at the conference will be published in the conference proceedings. A six-page camera-ready manuscript of accepted papers should be submitted by the deadline mentioned below. Selected papers will be published in a special issue of Composite Structures.
Proposals for half-day (3-hour) tutorials/workshops are solicited in areas related to the conference scope. Proposals should include the topic, expected background of participants, objectives, a short summary, and the qualifications of the instructor(s).

ICCST/5 is organized jointly with the First International Conference on Modeling, Simulation,
and Applied Optimization (ICMSAO?5) that will be held at the same time and venue as ICCST/5.
One registration fee covers both conferences.
